1.They took his spine out and put someone else's spin inside.

2.He is being brave because he is going alone to an army of blood thirsty reptiles

    This is the literal meaning, is there a figurative meaning there too? Did he really switch his spine for someone else's?

    Yes he is being brave, although others have said it was a dumb move on his part.

    The figurative meaning is to change from being a coward to being brave
